Then and Now... My Thoughts (1)
Since I had already been to San Francisco a few years back, with my parents, it was interesting to experience the city through "different eyes": not only in respect to being older now, but also in regard to the "flavor" of the trip, so-to-speak. The last time I went to San Francisco my parents and I stayed at a Kimpton Hotel. To give you a sense of that hotel, they had cocktail hour from 5 to 6 in the lobby, during which time anyone (of age) staying there could stop in and have free wine or beer. Needless to say, I never partook in that, of course... well maybe I had a sip or two. This time around, it was really cool to be staying at a hostel, a complete opposite living arrangement from that at the Kimpton. I will say though that I expected the hostel to be much worse than it was... My parents have told me stories about really bad experiences they've had at hostels. I enjoyed having to use the public showers and other facilities because it helped me to branch out from the way I'm used to traveling (although i did go on a 9 day river-rafting trip down the Grand Canyon several years ago and we all had to share one bucket as a toilet...). The hostel was very accommodating and I was completely and pleasantly surprised when I found out they provided free breakfast to their occupants! I'm about to go eat dinner so I'm going to post this now... but I'm going to continue this topic in another blog entry later. Thanks for reading!! (:
